Origin

Alice kills freddy

The only origin given to the dream master rhyme is Alice Johnson's mom who used to tell it to her at night. The purpose of the rhyme is to let Alice know that she is in charge in her dream.

The rhyme was the key to Alice defeating Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and resulted in Alice freeing the souls of all the killed Elm Street Children.

The Rhyme

"Now I lay me down to sleep, the master of dreams, my soul I'll keep. In the reflection of my mind's eye, evil will see itself and evil will die."
