New Line Film Productions Inc., often simply referred as New Line Cinema, is an American film studio well known for producing the A Nightmare on Elm Street films.
Founded in 1967 by producer Robert Shaye (Bob Shaye), New Line Cinema had a small string of financial failures. The original A Nightmare on Elm Street was its first successful film, released in 1984. The success of the film and its sequels earned New Line the nickname "The House That Freddy Built."
